Recon Engines

Post by Mog »

Has anyone used AW engineering for a reconditioned engine i am thinking of buying one from them? Then have my local vw specialist fit it for me. Any other recommendations appreciated The engine I need is 1.6 JX.

Haven't heard of them personally but a tip from me is to look at the 1.9 AAZ route.

I have just done a conversion a few weeks ago and its not that difficult... takes a few days but worth it as the extra torque really does help...

Sorry I cant help you with your enquiry.
However one piece of advice I can offer is if possible get the company who do the reconditioned engine to fit it for you too. That way if there are any problems with the engine they cant blame anyone else who worked on it for any fault that may occur. You will obviously save on carriage costs of sending you the unit and the hassle and cost of having to clean, package and despatch the old unit prior to you being credited for the old unit.
