am I over valueing

Post by never look back »

Van insurance due for renewal next week.
Its a T25 autohomes high top petrol 1998cc year of reg 1990
I have been listing it on the form as £6000 value, but reading some of the posts it seems when someone has a claim they dont get offered anything like this.
So am i over valueing it.
I have come to this figure cos its pretty much what I would want for her cos she's in good nick!

Then i would suggest that you pay the extra tenner or so and have an assured value put on it :ok

you will need to supply pics of the van and maybe get a mechanic to write a letter stating it's condition and value, then it's down to them to agree it!

I did the agreed value thing on my van well worth the 10 to 15 quid!

Most of the time you dont need to get it valued i did mine myself! Concat your insurance and ask them, they will tell you exactly!

I insured mine with footman james, they accepted my valuation, just had to fill in a simple form and supply a couple of photos. The whole process was very easy.

There is a world of difference between an 'accepted' value and an 'agreed' valuation.
Insurance companies will often not question a valuation (giving you the impression that the valuation you have submitted has been accepted) UNTIL a claim is made and at this point they TELL you how much they think it is worth, often much lower than the so called 'accepted' valuation. Agreed valuation is different! they have agreed that is what they will pay out if a total loss situation arrises. I am about to re-negociate ours from £7000 because of a recent (expensive) refurb/respray....I'm taking my agreed to £8500-£9000.

Mine is agreed and not an accepted one!!! If you have to pay any extra for agreed value then that is exactly what it is! My insurance will pay out for a van of my choice and get it converted to same spec as my current one ie Scooby 2.2!

been in contact with adrian flux today ref. agreed value and they couldn't have been more helpfull.
said I take out the policy (which is quite reasonable) they will then send a couple of forms which i have to fill in, plus 6 photos of the bus, send a tenner with it and hopefully that should be it
 never been with adrian flux, has anybody got any horror stories???

Flux can be a pain if you need to make a claim. (So I have been told)

All insurance companies are as bad as each other when it comes to settling claims, AF is no worse than many others, I've used Af many times before now on different vehicles and can't say I've had any real issues with them
