MOT NEW ISSUE

Post by ..lee.. »

for your info.
it looks like the mot test will soon include inspection of the vehicle tow bar and its mountings and defects to them may cause the vehicle to fail.
when this will come in to force is unsure but paperwork has been sent out to testing stations.

i should think so as well.imagine the carnage that could ensue.if a towbar was to fail.whilst pulling a trailer or caravan.

I'd always assumed that it was already included as it has become part of the vehicle's structure.

I didn't see it mesen but The Present Mrs Hulley (God Bless Her !) saw this on't idiot's lantern a couple of weeks ago and 'they' are planning to include trailers too. I agree with Rob on this (and most things :? ) and having once seen an old piece of iron fall off a farmer's trailer and rattle under the car (a Cavalier) in front of us which ripped through it's fuel tank empying it's contents (very fortunately diesel) all over the road and the bonnet of our Sierra.

I hope they insist on testing ALL trailers including those heaps of cr@p dragged round by penny-pinching dirt-farmers

They will never test agricultural stuff, incredible when you see the size of the blimmin tractors now, a 17yr old with no experience can drive one and tow a 20 tonne trailer......madness

I think the worst ones I have seen are the scrapyard / scrap metal merchants lorries. They drive as if they don't have a care what so ever and woe betide anyone who gets in thier way.
