Plastic Pipe from clutch slave cylinder Broken

Post by T25ScoobySTI »

Hi, I am looking for the plastic pipe that connects the clutch slave cylinder to the solid metal pipe that runs from clutch master cylinder to last cross member of chassis, part number 251721477j. The connection that joins this plastic and metal pipe on my van has badly corroded and this part number is now not available from VW. I have seen a couple of threads on this subject but no one has actually posted how they got round the problem.

I haven't seen this setup, and can't find any pics as some of the links are broken, but I would be surprised if you couldn't replace the whole thing in copper with a little ingenuity?

The trouble with doing it in copper is that the slave cylinder is mounted on the gearbox, which moves up and down, which I guess is why the last part of the pipe is plastic. If other large vans have a similar set up I suppose I could get 1 off ebay and adapt that a bit! Think that's what i'm going to have to do.

Thanks for that, I did try just kampers, the part they list is for early vans that had this flexi pipe in between the plastic pipe and the metal one. The later vans just had a long plastic pipe straight to the metal pipe and neither VW, just kampers or brickyard do it. Great Eh!!!!!!!!

Used to work on aircraft....... and we used Aeroquip hose fittings to make up hoses for hydraulics etc.
Just cut the required length of flexy pipe and the fittings, which were re-useable, could be assembled with regular hand tools, (couple of spanners).
Google Aeroquip, or look for Demon Tweeks.
May find something to do the job......not as vital as a brake hose.
