Rear park sensors..

Hi, I'm thinking of fitting a rear park sensor kit to the camper. Has anyone one else fitted a kit and if so which one did you use? Ta..

i fitted some reverse sensors on mine a few months back,i got them of ebay,i had the ones where you have the little thing goes on the dash to give you the distances,running the cable from the front to the back took the longest time

The ones I am hoping to fit are abit more simple then those. They just have a beeper which goes faster the closer you get until it becomes one long beep..

If your going to go to that bother why not get a reversing camera? You can even get wireless ones to save the hassle of routing.....

I wouldnt bother with the other kind - my dad got one and its rubbish - goes off all the time for no reason.. Cost him £130

Least with a camera you can see if its close.

ive used the cheap ones about 3 times and never had a problem,the one,s with just the beeper and very accurate

The ones we fit at work (can't remember the make, will check tomorrow) I can get for £28 trade! We fit them all the time to new cars and pick ups and very rarely get any trouble with them..

If you install sensors into a steel bumper and they give false alerts try filing the hole to make the fit a bit looser, did this on mine and they now work fine. Maplin do good units

Will those things work on poles? Like 2x 4x4's holding a basket ball basket? The towbar took the hit and broke the 4x4's clean of but it would still be nice to avoid next time, i might have a half-straight bumper by then

I fitted a maplin kit,
Leads were not long enough to reach the dash, (but I can solder with my eyes closed, so just added 50cm)
The instructions say not suitable for rear engined vehicals!!! I get a fewfalse positives,

I really only use it for the last few inches, as I dont have a towbar.

No mate dont visit my dad on his boat in camper so i'll be fine !

i fitted some to mine, they're great when you can only see the roof of the car you're reversing up to. Parking is now so easy!

Mine cost about £20 from Debenhams (yep..you read that right!) and I wired it to the reversing light . The beeper is just loud enough to hear with the unit fitted to my rear wardrobe. It works fine but , like others have pointed out, given the cost of wireless reversing cameras now I would opt for that. Maplin had an offer recently for a complete wireless reversing kit with colour camera, infra red night time vision and LCD monitor at a very reasonable price. Sensors won't help you reverse into a narrow field entrance, down some dark narrow lane in the middle of the night. Had a camera on our Hymer and it was extremey useful.
