Brake problem

Please can someone help me. just jumped in my van and it won't budge.

it feels like the rear brakes are seized on.
loads of revs won't release them in either first or reverse.

Sometime they stick a little but never like this before.
I last used the van last weekend just to go a few hundred yards up the road to the car wash, then back home for a polishing.

when i try to pull forward it drags the wheels 6 inches or so, and when i try to reverse it just pushes so much the rear suspension just raises up, like i've still got the handbrake on.

Which wheels are dragging, front or rear?

I can understand the front wheels dragging if locked but the rear can't because they are the drive wheels and aren't turning.

Sounds like the brake linings has stuck on one of the rear wheels. Chock the wheels and leave the hanbrake off then tap the brake back plates with a hammer using a piece of wood as a drift.

Rear wheels Dragging. It's a T4, .....didn't mention this cos last time i did i got loads of abuse...lol.

smack the wheel rim on the higest part of the rim, not the outer rim tho with a big hammer.

as billy says, thrash the wheel with a hammer, it'll come off

Oh and next time after the car wash, drive it a bit further using the brakes to give them chance to dry out before parking up for a week.

Sorry guys, i'm not likely to start smacking my alloys with a hammer......surely you mean the rear of the brake drum?

Yes thats what he means, just put vehicle in gear before you do it so dont roll away!!!

Siezed rear brakes can also be caused by weak or broken rear brake springs. The only cure for this is to free up the brakes, remove the drums and replace the rear brake spings.

You can get the brake spring tools (you will need them !!) and the rear brake spings from Just Kampers.
