Eber heater specialist needed.

Post by Spiral »

Had a day off to do those things on the van that you never seem to get round to doing. The eber heater in my diesel westy atlantlic has never worked since I bought the van a couple of years ago. It is inside a steel case and bolted underneath the van. Have now given up on it and really need an expert to look at it. Is there anywhere in the Herts, Essex or east/north London area that someone on here can recommend? Thanks in advance :ok

There is quite a clear section about these heaters in the WIKI (above) , have a look you may find the information you need...

Thanks Fritz. Problem is that I don't even have the basic knowledge of how an eberspacher heater works. Undid the 2 large jubilee clips that secure the 2 x 50mm ducts to the casing underneath the van, one of which a wiring loom is running through. Can see the heater through the 2 holes but can't work out how to undo the casing to get the heater out :?

Hi T'Onion. Control panel lights up below rear seat. Little green light comes on at heat adjuster wheel right hand side of seat although red light doesn't come on. All it does is blow out cold air :(

Rob - Just been out to check and when I press the rocker switch to heat, can hear nothing. I press the rocker switch the other way (fan) and cold air blows. So pump isn't ticking.

Ok thanks for the link. Might try within the link http://www.aes2.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in Leyton Buzzard Beds, as I now remember someone else recommending them.

Try your local BT van maintenance depot, these guys are the most experienced eber mechanics out there and I believe now they are allowed to do private work for money as well as maintain their fleet. Easiest way will be to collar one of the van drivers at your local exchange or depot and find out where the fleet maintenace depot is

Yeah I've heard this before. The company that I work for has their vehicles maintained by BT Fleet. Been put off in the past by their poor service when I've took my works vehicle in for servicing etc...

Might have a word with them though. Thanks :ok

BT depot wont have a clue on the DL2,
however, i suspect you have a bad connection onto your glow plug, and / or a non working glowplug.

if the ebber detects no connection to the glow plug it will not allow the pump to pump.
the glow plugs have a coil which melts and shows no connection to the heater.

You have tried making sure the battery the heater is running off is fully charged for sure havent you, as low voltage will stop the heater working too.
