Syncro Front Wheel Bearings

Post by syncronaut »

Anyone know of a good source for replacement front wheel bearings? That is without paying VW a fortune.
This is for my 86 Syncro 'velle.
Job looks straight forward, but I'd appreciate any notes on potential problems with removing/replacing the bearings from anyone who has done this.
Thanks

They are now FAG bearings, which are what VW used, so you know they are okay.
I have odd ones of other brands left, SKF, some Meyle(cheaper but 2 year warranty) but all will be run out and replaced with FAG.
Rears are already FAG.
2WD are almost FAG now too.
As an aside, I've had a few supply problems for balljoints, so I've had some febi ones in, but I'm now swapping over to lemforder, which are again what VW used.
Not cheap, but the best.

Thanks for the info. Bearing and seals ordered from Brickwerks. Managed to keep the caravelle running by robbing the complete hub from my 91.
The sacrifices I make to keep my Mrs on the road!
Might as well get the discs skimmed whilst its stripped down.
Any T25 owners in Mid Wales might want to consider Weavers Garage in Caersws.
The owner is a VW enthusiast and has much experience in refurbishing T25s, especially bodywork. Good service at prices that won't break the bank.
Dave is also a T25 owner, which helps. If anyone is interested he has a a tidy Golf VR6 for sale and a useful looking LT flatbed. Both are well under a
grand each.
Anyone interested, let me know and I will pass on the garage number.
I've no interest in the garage apart from the fact that I, and other T25 owners locally have had good service from here.
