Insurance Syncro Caravelle

Post by mattk918 »

Hi,
Picking up my "new" Syncro Caravelle tomorrow and still haven't sorted insurance out for it. Spoke to Adrian Flux and they reckon there is a premium for Caravelles over vans or campers and very few people will insure them !?!?!?!?

Anyone else experienced this? What kind of premiums are people paying? My quote is 31 yr old, safe postcode, 2nd car, less than 5k a year, 2.1 Syncro Caravelle and they want £300 ! Am I being unrealistic thinking this is a bit steep. I only paid £180 fully comp for my old Westy that was worth twice as much!

I pay £175 for mine....1989 2.1cc Syncro Carravelle. Its 3rd party fire and theft. Try HIC (Herts insurance). They seem to be very realistic on price. I have had experience with Adrian Flux before and never found the service to be very good!!!
Hope this helps. Good luck with your new buy!! :ok

Just spoken to Herts (or HIC) and apparently they are same company as Adrian Flux so quotes are the same. Actually now got a much better quote from Direct Line who I have another policy with which is coming out nearer £190 with protected no claims etc etc....... bit more realistic. Seems the "specialist VW" insurance can't compete!
