Autpsleeper - flouro tube starters/Spares

Post by mikey9 »

Anyone know where I can get spares for the flouro light fittings (2 tubes) fitted to late autosleepers.
I have power going to the lighting circuit, if I swap the two fittings round - then it works - but if I just swap tubes from working to dead one then it doesn't so I think I am down to the starter gubbins.

Anyone found anywhere that does the little box in the fitting - there isn't,much beyond the switch left!

Assuming that the switch and wiring are all OK (and usaully are), the little circuit you are referring to is the 'invertor' and the small transformer often fails along with the other components (does it look cooked?). Its usually cheaper to renew the complete unit than try and repair it as exact spares are rarely available. Keep the tubes as spares. You could buy any fitting with the same wattage tubes and transfer the circuit across but I doubt its worth the effort and a new one will look fresh and clear compared to the existing one.

I agree James - less power is but need to do something clever to cover up the hoooge hole the flouro box leaves..... - maybe put a kitchen roll in there!!

I usually go to my local Caravan Accessory shop but CAK Tanks, Rainbow Conversions, etc, have a wide range available to suit your needs. Most Caravan Dealers have accessory shops that sell Lighting units so try looking in Yellow Pages and that way you can have a 'mooch' around.
