rear wiper question again

Post by el sketcho »

I've tested the rear wiper and the wiring going to it is saying 6.2 volts. When all connected the motor is saying 12.9/13 volts.
My questions are
1) is the motor shagged?
2) Am i reading this correctly?
3) if the motor is shagged can it be rebuilt?
4) anybody got any other ideas as to what's happening?

I have a couple of VW rear wash wipe motors sitting in a box somewhere
it might well be possible to modify one to work
when i next have time to get into the garage I'll try and find them, and photograph them

Obviously you've checked your earths
what's happening, is the motor not working
I hear that there is a relay in there, have you checked it

Hi dink, yeah checked the earth, it's getting power but nothing happens. What with my extremely limited knowledge of electrics I fresh out of ideas. Is it right that the wires are saying 6 volts and the unit's saying 12?

have you looked at the relay, i think it's #72, the fact you are not getting 12v might mean it's knackered

Hello dink, how do I check the relay to see if it's working?

sorry dude that one i cannot help you with
there is a guy on the vzi forum I've heard about called mMoby, he's really good
have you got a wiring diagram, if you figure, which is the in/ out power wise from the relay (terminal numbers)
put your meter to the power in if you have 12v there, then I'm thinking the relay is loosing he rest
I'll be honest I don't know much about wires
#31 i think will be earth
#15 or numbers in the #50's are the live wires

I have a bently book here, I'll have a looksee
