Autohomes propex

Has anyone out there got an autohomes with an originally fitted propex?
I had a lot of bother with mine , so sent it back to propex and had the full service.
Re-fitted and worked perfectly well for a few days and then died on me.
I then sent it back to propex and it seems to have been eating it's own exhaust! (not nice!)
Well , Mr.Propex cleaned it all up again and has sent it back to me , telling me to re-think the air intake/exhaust positions.
The air inlet is on the off side sill and the exhaust is about 10 inches above it.
It is now obvious to me that the heater is going to eat it's own exhaust as warm air rises and then straight into the inlet.

Am thinking about moving the exhaust somewhere else but am confused because it is an x1 and presumed it was fitted as part of the original conversion.
Anyone else with autohomes and similair positions of inlet / exhaust???

This is my arrangement. Mines an 1982 Autohomes doesn't appear to have been altered.

Thanks bigherb.....that is very useful. I have no idea why mine is how it is, but I will be changing it to something more like yours when I get the unit back.....just in time for spring!
