How long is a piece of string???

Post by mattk918 »

Seen this and going to hopefully look at the weekend.

1989 RHD Syncro Caravelle. 2.1 DJ. 2 Diff locks (allegedly diffs and VC all working). 220k miles (~50k on new engine). Central locking, electric windows, alarm, power steering, No ABS or Aircon. Bit of Seam Rash. What kind of ballpark figure do you reckon I should be looking at (I realise answer is probably "it depends" see title!) :?

Any advance on 3k (higher or lower). Roughly how much difference would it be if it were a panel van in the same condition? :?:

Couldn't really say but that is a high spec bus. If the seller knows what it is I'd doubt it'll be any lower. Is it on ebay hence no asking price?

Not on ebay. There is an asking price..... i'm just trying to work out if it is the right kind of asking price.

On one hand 220k is pretty high mileage, on the other it is only 11k a year ?!?!

If it has a solid shell with origial paint and a good clean original interior ie NOT tinkerd with or personized in any way, I would say no less than 5k.
Ive been see'ing a lot of RHD rust buckets lately around the 3k mark!
Ive got an almost perfect original RHD syncro caravelle GL 2.1 dj recon 2003 with about 20k on it, New VC fitted last week, just needs some bit'n'bobs done, (Best ive seen in years) No blistering,
I know what i want for it and it will sell its self and thats without a lot of extras like elec mirrors and ABS! Its a Beeeuuuuttttttyyyyy :ok
More is less, stay pure, stay poor.

So what do you want for it ?????

One i'm looking at looks pretty original to me. VW dealership owned for first 2 years, same owner since. Drivers side seam ahead of the rear wheel looks to be the shabby one, but not too bad. Assured that it is not rotten underneath.
