cluctch pipe

i have a type 25 vw transporter van, 1.9 water cooled petrol, 1985, b reg. I am having serious trouble finding a replacement for the hydralic cluctch pipe, the one that screws directly into the clutch slave cylinder. Its bigger in diametre than the normal "break" pipe but has the same sort of 'break pipe' end that forms the seal. The original was a transparent plastic pipe. VW no longer support this item and neither do all the usual after-market suppliers. Any ideas??

Get your self a roll of 6mm Kunifer from you local motor factors and cut it to length, remove the origonal pipe ends from the old pipe then find someone to drill them out to suit the new diameter pipe and while they are at it get them to put a double flare on each end of the pipe .

Hiya Wiggy,

I should be able to lay my hands on the plastic pipe for you.

Think the part number is 251 721 477J it is approx 2 feet long. If this is what your after
just PM me for more details.

i have one also in gloucester , you probavbly have the early one half rubber , half metal . later use plastic one peice .

Yonks ago I had a problem with a metal clutch fluid pipe which I could not detach so I cut it and joined it back together later with a connector.Contact Merlin Motors at Castle Combe Motor Racing Circuit. Between Bristol and Chippenham.I was able to obtain metal brake and clutch pipe the latter of which I seem to remember was larger diameter pipe and a connector to join pipes from them and fix it. They sell bits to racing car builders and are very helpful.

I'm glad to hear that you've fixed the problem following advice from Fritz. If the part that you were looking for was a Clutch Flexi Hose then it's only available from Just Kampers, the part number is J10815 @ £26.33 incl.VAT.

VW still sell this part for about £17, but you have to go to a commercials department or speak nicely to the normal vw car dealer and they will accept post from the commercials
