If I'm reading this right, that's an extra 45cc per pot so I would guess probably not; why not look for a replacement engine and sell what you have now to help fund it.
What a long strange trip it's been

A 2.1 is not a bigger bore version of a 1.9.
they both use the same diameter pistons, but a 2.1 has a longer crank stroke to achieve the 2.1 cyl. volume, more torque per rev.
gowesty in the states, use larger pistons and bored liners to turn a 2.1 into a 2.2 though, using commercially available pistons, not sure what cc that would equate to if done to a 1.9 without the longer stroke crank tho.
*PS, Luckily, i understand Lolspeak!*

Unless it is pre-knackered you can get the 2.1 performance just by driving it harder. It must be a quantum leap over the smaller aircooleds! Then if it blows up put a 2.1 in. I have to say I haven't built confidence in my 2.1 WBX as it was a bit loose when I got it and needed a rebuild afer two years. It had only done 110K miles and already had a rebuild! My 2.3 Vauxhal Magnum engine outlasted two CF's and was going strong when I scrapped the last one. Would I get 20 odd years out of the VW I wonder?

WBX engines are great engines until they get any kind of glitch. Generally once you have problems you always seem to have problems.
A good friend once explaind boxer engines in 1 phrase... They are either being worn in or worn out...
