What are these please.
Hi,
Just working my way through the van and wondered what and how these work.
What do the fan switch to the left and the two de-humidifier switches control?
What does this control, is it the heater?
What is in the big silver box? There is a vent under the seat into the cabin.

Second round.
There is a barrel adjuster for a cable, where does it go?
This must be the heater. does it run off the diesel and when I convert to petrol will I be able to convert it?
Is this anything VW related?
Thanks for all he help,
Jon

Re: What are these please.
looks like an esbacher heater if its in a diesel van will run on diesel don't think they an be converted to petrol, if you google it you might be able to get more info or check in the wiki sorry i can't be of more help but have never had any experience of them but hear they are good heaters. By the way why are you considering converting to petrol? Better of with diesel and can always upgrade to an aaz or tdi if you need more power.

Re: What are these please.
silver box is a seperate heater for the back of the bus, controled by the rotary fan switch nearest to the steering wheel.
the little control panel is for the webasto heater, this runs of diesel from the vehicle tank. Yours is a bit different to mine but witn mine the sliders on the dash board heater control have to be set to the right and both fan switches to no1 position then it can be timed to fire up and heat up the van before you get in in the morning. if you change to petrol you could fit a small diesel tank for it.
the two other heated rear window switches look to be out of a mk1 Golf, so are probably something fitted by a previous owner, lights etc.??

Re: What are these please.
Hi, and thanks.
The switch to petrol is because I am so impressed by the Scooby conversion I've done on my camper.
I will try the switches, there are wires running to one of the wing mirrors, could it be them that are heated?
Is the silver box heater under the back seat seperate from the esbacher heater? It looks like it takes heat from the engine water.
It also has a heaving great leisure battery next to the heater, did they often have them fitted?
Thanks,
Jon

Bolloks think Ive been talkin crap.
just noticed your heater looks like the type that just heats air not the water so will be entirely seperate to normal heaters.
In the silver box there is a small heat exchanger and fan, its plumed in to the engine cooling system and works along with this.

Looks like a serious cold weather Doka!
The two seperate switches will be for the truck mirrors! Probibly not vw glass!!!
The control pannel/Timer is for the Eberspcher hot air blower! Will run for about an hour when time is set before you set of to wrk or go home!
The silver box/Shield Has a heater matrix under it and is supplied via the engine water, You will probibly find a mains electric hook up at the rear of the van which heats the engine coolant like a big kettle does!
The Black plastic mouted behind you seat Loks like a doking station for charging somthing portable like a CB radio or radio phone type thing!
Thats What i think and im sticking to it!

Heated glass is avaiable from VW, well, it was until recently, not a bad price either, then the aftermarket ones went obsolete also.

Re: What are these please.
Most of the heated type ive seen on scandinavian vans are like a universal type fitting hence the universal switches. Would be great to see more vw t25's with heated mirrors (summit else too go wrong)

Those two 'heated screen' switches above the cold start leaver are from a Scirocco - handy for pimping your dash pod switches!
