Rear Door struts
Need a bit of help with this one,
just fitted new bike rack to tailgate,
now struts are not strong enough and door creeps down
anyone recommend a solution, stronger struts ????

there is a solution on here where you cut a length of (i think)22mm copper pipe and slide it over the strut.you make the length slightly less than the inner strut so when you open the door you can move it into place to lock the door

Get some new struts
I think they should be strong enough to keep the tailgate with a rack on up and steady
Unless the bike rack is very heavy ?
Or just go for the copper tube I am not too sure I would want to totally trust this method
What happens if the tube slips Bang Ouch and a sore head

Mine didn't even do the job before I put the bike rack on. I use a high tech piece of kit which also doubles as a yard brush.

I've just fitted a new pair to my van, now when i open my hatch it almost takes yer chin off

I got some from GSF £19.00 the pair GSF part number87736. you will be astounded how much better it will lift your tailgate with a bike rack on, and agree with windysurfer, Watch yer chin, If you get them from GSF ask for discount
