Post by Don-Tucker »

We are off tomorrow to St Davids in Pemproke, but i noticed the little red light on the temp. gauge flashing,I only moved the van about 20 m.Is this normal? I can't say Ive noticed it before. There is plenty of water in the overflow tank.

Coolant in the top-up tank doesn't neccesarily mean coolant in the header tank. For the sake of ~£6 I'd be inclined to replace the level sensor ... GSF (part number 93485) and JK (part number J10725) both do them, that's if you have an aversion to main dealers.

Our sensor had cracked and was leaking coolant past the 'O' ring.

Cheers,Ian.

Yep,that was the problem, got to the campsite with the red light flashing all the way but the temp kept ok,went to check the plug on top of the sensor and it came away in my hand.Bought some Araldite from Woolies in desperation and it worked, spent 3 days running around and got me home.will order a new sensor thanks for the advice and part nos Ian
