Re: oil preashure sender
Lot's of info here, assuming its a WBX.
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewto ... ght=gauges" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The Americans have a completely different view of the WBX,(to our it's a bag of "pooh" attitude) and there are people over there who are really looking at how to live with one. If you want good advice thats where to look.

Re: oil preashure sender
sender needs to go in the hole the current dash sender goes in, usually the low pressure one between 3 and 4 cylinder push rods, but most peeps use a flexible extension pipe and locate the sender somewhere else as the sender is bigger than the switch you are replacing and there's no room. High pressure sender is under water pump next to fan belt so even less space there.
I have a flexible pipe to the sender which is sat ontop of no 3 cylinder where there's a useful spare tapped hole in the head with which to fix a bracket. I used the existing front to back wiring and diverted it at the dash and had no low signal so no flashing light on dash, but on your set up use the existing wiring for the switch send from your new sender and run extra wire for the guage.
Don't know anyone running a dipstick temp sender on a wbx be interested to know if it works.

Re: oil preashure sender
Here is a neat install I have seen on samba...

the suggestion was to have a tee rather than the 90 deg elbow, and retain the original VW sender, as the buzzer of doom is a good thing to have if all else equal.
Simon.

Re: oil preashure sender
without low pressure sender you still have buzzer of doom, just no really low low pressure notice, but by then it's too late anyway.
I wouldn't fancy that on a syncro too easily attacked by rocks and fallen branches etc off road
regards

Re: oil preashure sender
VDO sells a sender that has 2 terminals... one for pressure gauge and other is for low pressure light. IIRC it trips light at higher pressure then stock sender, so light may flicker at idle when engine is hot.
