how to prime oil pump help.

Post by drumnut182 »

Heyup, i am replacing my oil pump (new from gsf) and was wondering if i have to Prime it before i put it on. Can someone please explain exactly how to do this and what i need for it please. Oil, grease?
I also am replacing sump so what the best gasket to use and how should i tighten up the bolts and to what torque?
Should i put some sort of silicon or gew as an added seal?
Any tips would help and what i need to watch out for.

Thanks very much.

shouldn't need to prime, bang it in and if you are worried, stop engine from firing by either pulling fuel line from pump or stopping air getting into system by disconnecting air filter and blocking it!!

Seriously, as far as I can remember the pump will drain through gravity anyway when bus is standing..

Is it a Shaedek (sp) pump?? I seem to recall some mods needed to get the bugger to fit.
