Stripes and Decals, Spray or Sticky ?

Post by Sturgey »

Been a member for a few months now, and had my 1990 2.1 w/c bus "Myfanwy" for around four years. Trouble is she was starting to look a bit tatty around the edges, so yesterday she went in for a bit of a nip and tuck with the guys at BBBCVW at Bridgend, South Wales.

While she's there, she is going to be re-sprayed the same colour, white, and is going to have the dodgy brown and yellow REIMO stripes removed. Trouble is, I think she will look a bit bare without any stripes or decals, so I was wondering if anyone would recommend having a stripe/pattern actually painted on the van whilst she is in the spray shop, or are the shop bought transfers just as good, or better? Any opinions greatly received !!!

Cheers,

Marc.

Decals are much easier and can be replaced easily if you fancy a change, plus you can design your own. It is difficult to avoid bleeding when painting stripes even with fine line tape and would be quite expensive due to being fiddley to do

That looks really smart :ok have you continued the black strip around the back of the van too ?

As for spray on or stickers I would suggest stickers, as the previous owner of my van sprayed on some blue stripes. They look ok, but if you look close you can see where the tape was and where the paint has bled through alittle bit making it seem furry around the edge :? .

yep

stripe goes right around the van

I had to fit it qas the previous owner had fitted a sticker in the same place and after getting it off (which too ages) you could still see the imprint in the paint.
I quite like the way it breaks up the green

Any thoughts on where to get them from? I'd like some to cover some key-scratches on my van until I can afford a respray.
