ETKA SMETKA CABLE HELL!

Well not quite but having a couple of problems...... got a copy of etka which I dont seem to be able to get going,,... been told I need to have a dongle is this something to do with impotence?
Now been trying to order some cables for the heating in me 1983d and the guy at vag seems not to be to hot on this. I need cable which seems to divert air to the rear compartment (940mm approx) and the windscreen or cab cable ( 445mm approx) can anyone who can open etka give me these part nos or send me a diagram....Ta you are ace you lot Dave

Right I am in a bit of a muddle here ... I also cant get Etka working however what I have been sent helped I think (ta).
Got my cables today 3 as the passenger comparment not available for two weeks
Now I am confused they are colour coded and not the same codes as my original?
Now if any one can open Etka they have sent me
(9) 252 265 473 A heater valve 1190 mm yellow red paint mark
this seems right!
(11) 252 711 647 defroster flap foot well 1 paint green yellow 635 mm which seems a diff lenght to what I have just took off!
(12) 251 711 647 A defroster flap two paint marks blue 435mm??????? Are there two defroster flaps???
Now my other cables had 2 yellow dots and one had yellow and red thge other cables had nothing? Now the new cables are of diff lenghts to the old so were they replaced wrong or has vw got the m wrong?
mines a 1983 1.6 d are these for a diff year?
The other thing my Haynes has got diff colour codes all together!!
Got to get it sorted going on me hols soon!!!! ta help Dave

Still dont get it but thanks for that can anyone do a search on a chassis no for parts on etka? It seems that I may have at least on wrong cable......I take it the 1.6 na derv is code cs? I'm geting myself confused

four well four cables nowe in the garage!!!! cant get etka going screen resolution......? I hate computers can anyone tell me how to get etka working I bought it from someone on hear I think?

If your resolution ain't 1280*1024 (IIRC) then it won't run as you ain't got enough pixels on your screen.

Thanks Diamond geezer I know that but being though I am a computer thicky how can I find out this??? I dont think I have the patience to count them!!! ta Dave

Go to the desk top screen, right click, click on properties then settings you should see a slider telling you your screen resolution....

Set that up but forgot the original setting for the screen can you restore orig settings? Ta D

There's only about five options so try them all....
probably 1024 x 768.

got the screen right again but not etka seems to not select the appropriate sectios ie engine elact are all in grey and only option 0 is selectable in black....will fiddle a bit more tonight as was getting pissed off D

Got me cables and they are diff lengths to what I have got ......now checked double checked they are the right cables according to vag so I guess maybe someone changed them in the past for the wrong cables.....well better put them on then!!! thanks for the replies Dave
