alternator over heating

hi guys on idle yesterday my alternator was extremely hot to the touch burning and seems to run hot since i ut in the new engine alsoseems to be excessively noisey seems to charge ok though any ideas its a 70amp original one that can with the 1y still on the original belt set up thanks paul

bearings could be shagged if it's noisy
