Sudden oil loss

Post by sbsj2 »

Hi,

My 1990 1.6td lost most of its oil today. Oil light & BOD . Oil spotted all up the tail gate and splodges on the road every 2yard behind me.
No power loss or any other symptom up to then
The oil appeared to be coming from the turbo but when I looked it seems it is coming down from the breather? on the end of the rocker cover...the thing that has a pipe from the airfilter. This seems to rely on a rubber bung effect where it goes in to the rocker cover.
Any ideas or experience of this ?

Regards

Steve

Hi mate mine has just started doing this all you have to do is replace the rubber bung. Its probably old and has lost its grip to hold the pipe in only a couple of quid i imagine gonna try and get one today.

Probably not relevant but while on the subject and useful to know for others I had an oil leak and the fault was was a corroded hole at the bottom of the oil filler pipe where it joins the flange on my 1982 van.
