This morning I have mostly been....

....fitting a cab bunk for Summer!

So chuffed with myself

Image

Took me around 3 hours to do, but got there in the end. My seat backs are too high though, so I had to removed my cooker unit to do it, which will be a pain if i have to do this everytime i want to use it. Decided to make another canvas for it, with 2 squares cut out for the seat backs to pop through. Hoping there will still be enough strength in the bunk. Think it should be fine. - Thats tomorrows job he he. For now, I'm just happy i managed to do it all by myself :D Hands are a bit sore as there was a fair bit of drilling to do, and back aching from all the bending and twisting.

Just got to convince Summer to sleep in it now!

That looks good, have you weight tested it yet....
I have spent the morning stripping out the cooker from my devon and cleaning underneath it (nice job) :ok Now back in the house stripping the cooker down and giving it a bloody good clean too.
Mmm what's that strange smell from my exhaust...

its a JK cab bunk, so has brackets that fit to the A and B pillars. The poles are a fixed length, so you have to get the measurements just right, or it won't fit. Seems pretty strong. haven't weight tested it properly yet, as gonna wait till i've made the new canvas later today. My hands are bit sore today, obviously i'm a weed! he he.

Modified JK Cab bunk to fit high back seats...

Post by kathyshack »

me and my mum set to yesterday afternoon making a new canvas section for the JK Cab bunk. It had to have holes cut in for the seat backs to pop through, as the seats wouldn't recline enough. We're very pleased with the results, and it seems pretty strong. heres some pics in case any of you with highback seats are looking to fit a cab bunk. it can be done, if you're handy with a sewing machine.
