Vise-grips at the base and then either CAREFULLY twist or go from under with a long punch and hit the vise grips up. Problem is I seem to remember that the other didn't just fit the same, i think i had to cut and grind down the diameter of the other tube to fit.

Not a nightmare, just not as easy as it would seem that should be. Also because i have the serpentine belt setup, rather than the v-belt one , the tube and dipstick won't fit over the alternator, so when i want to check the oil level i have to open the hatch. Okay for now because i don't burn any oil, but you may want to think it through.

yeah i kept the 1y setup too, seems alot better/modern than the old one...i might make a bracket for the tube if i can..gonna have another look at it now .the reason i want to change it is i broke the dipstick holder at the top of the tube  doh! also it would be better to open the flap rather than lift the lid...back in aa bit :)

Hi
Did this job recently and thought this thread may be of use - https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=29216" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Must say, it was a tight fit and I tapped it out with a drift when the engine was out so not sure how easy this will be with the engine in situ....best of luck tho
