Coolant pipe ID

Post by Steve T »

Can anyone id the pipe for part number and where to get, checked wiki, done a search, looked on JK and no joy, GSF perhaps? some knoledgeable person I am sure will have the answer, hope the pics work!

Spoted this slight weep from hose when under it today when on ramp for MOT, pretty sure it's hose leak and looks like hose has reached the end of it life, don't want to tighten clip as it may split the rubber, so just as well renew. Passed without advisory, just remarked on slightly binding N/S front brake binding, and slight play on rear N/S wheel bearing, and considering year how "unrusty" it was underneath. Tester asked if it was factory wax oiled or done as aftermarket in UK, did not know the answer to that.

What engine have you got and do you have another photo that isn't zoomed-in quite so close?

Yes
I should have been more clear in my post, it is the pipe from cylinder head (No 3) to inlet manifold, picture taken from above looking down, it is 1.9 DG (obviously water cooled) 1984. It looks like the connection to the manifold is larger diameter, so a length of general water pipe will not fit, do not want to remove to check in case I knacker the pipe before I have replacement, if i tighten the clip I could split the rubber, as where it is located it has had some high tems, worst case cenario that is what I will have to do and stretch fit over the larger diameter connection

Steve,

From the... http://www.vagcat.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; site. It looks to me as if the hose part number is 025121058A. :?:
The flange is part number 0125121160 and the gasket under it N90168502. :?: :?:
Only the gasket has a price quoted.

Thanks Grun

That concurs with numbers I have obtained from a russian site, after translation, then I remembered the log on and password for vagcat site and double checked. Just hope it is the rubber perished or clip failure and not the flange with the connector, then its hope the bolts undo...................Just have to source parts now.

Have included the link to the site as picture is better than the vagcat site, may be usefull ?

Steve,

I just did a (UK) google for 'Coolant Hose' and came up with THIS site for instance.

Looks as if you could make up something from an elbow / a jointer / a reducer (or whatever ! ) if you cannot source the original.

Now you have the part numbers, put a post in the wanted section, if you haven't already done that. Somebody is likely to have it. I think Onion might sill have some early water parts and there's a bloke on BY who was breaking a van recently and putting all the early water system to one side in case anybody wanted them at a later date (see 'for sale' section on BY).
Lost the post in "Wanted" I have had problem getting on the forum don't know if it's problem my end or the site in general . . .
There's been a problem with the server that hosts the forum, so 80-90 admin team had to wind it back to a back-up copy of the forum that had been saved on Monday morning iirc. Some posts have been lost therefore, but at least it's up and running again:
