Who makes engine adaptor plates?

Post by Globbits »

Hi all

Sorry for the dumb question, but are there any sources of engine adaptor plates? I've heard about "Famous Phil" on VWKD, who used to make adaptors for the Peugeot engines, but are there any companies left? I'm looking to put a diesel lump on my auto, so can't do the old bellhousing swap :(

Ideally wanting to go VW/Audi for an engine choice, but would consider other options if any are out there?

Ask around locally, I went to my local auto machining shop - people who do reboring, balancing and the like.
If you know someone whose into motor sport, ask them, you'll be surprised what's out there.

There are a few companies who make the adaptor plates, sometimes (dependant on what engine) you may need more than just a conversion plate.

Google KEP in the USA and Winkler in Germany. They are a source of ultimate information and good reading.

Thanks for the pointers all. I have to admit, I've chickened out and decided to go the manual/diesel route, so will just go for a T25 diesel lump  It's my local supplier's fault - he bigged up a 5-cylinder Audi diesel conversion and now says it's not on the cards

Thanks for the suggestions!
