Re: van is dead
Battery dead? (they do just go)
Do you have any electrics? (Lights etc)
Do you have jump leads to connect leisure battery to starter battery?
Or lost a connection from battery to starter? (did you jet wash under the van)

Re: van is dead
Short circuit is probably the cause then.
Do you have a hair drier handy?

DO NOT DO THIS if you have a proper leisure battery .. just a second car battery.

Re: van is dead
Look for the starter motor and try staring there
Its low down at the back of the engine I think (on 2.1)

Because the high current draw can deform the plates and kill the battery. An old answer to a question which crops up every year or so.
I don't need to treat you as an idiot.
Ian.
The starter is back right of the engine when viewed from behind. Check one of the leads hasn't corroded and dropped off (especially the small crimped one

Re: van is dead
I see our friend has deleted his incorrect location of the starter
The starter is behind the engine i.e. not inside the engine bay but just forwards of it

Re: van is dead
Check that the small spade terminal on the starter motor is still connected. As they corrode, they can just 'drop off'.
