Hi,
Have put van into 4th, but I am having problems getting the swing to undo the crankshaft bolt, with a long tube on the socket wrench.
Anybody got any good ideas. The idea behind all this is to change the crank seal which I think is the source of an oil leak.
Regards
Dave

I think I'd be using a good quality Strong arm preferably 1/2inch drive rather than a Socket wrench (Ratchet), and the Mrs pressing the brake coz all you will be doing is winding up the transmission if attempting this alone.

If you line it up to give the bolt a good head on hit with a good sized hammer, it will help loosen the bits of rust, old locktite, and cobwebs.
If you had an air supply i would use an impact gun[only too loosen it though !]

a trick that always works for me is to line ure bar up so it will jam on something, and then give a quick turn on ignition, just a quick stab mind, dont hold on crank, this will work

Got over this problem by making up a locking tool for the crankshaft.i used a spare V belt pully and welded a plate on it.So when its bolted up to the cambelt bottom cranshaft cog it holds against the block when the cog bolt is undone anti clockwise.
