Stalling and stuff

Post by beergut100 »

Hi
When I go to work in the mornings, my van always runs absolutely fine on either LPG or petrol and never stalls. On the way home from work, however, it stalls every time we pull up at lights or stop in traffic (particularly if running on LPG). Once or twice could just be coincidence, but it is ALWAYS OK in the morning, and ALWAYS stalls like buggery in the evening on the way home. The distance to work is only a couple of miles.

Got a 1.9 petrol/LPG.

Any ideas??

pressure on the intake side causes the pilot light to blow out  , you'll need to richen the mix a bit, there is a little adjusting screw on the mixer, but if you've not had it gas serviced you'd be advised to take it to the installer and have it done there on the gas anylizer so it can be set up correctly. As the diapragm in the mixer ages it changes it's behaviour slightly and seems to become more susceptible to back pressure on th einlet side, basically the engine is sucking gas from the mixer, the more it sucks the more gas it gets, but if the air side is pressurised it don't suck too well.
Learn to blip the throttle as you drop the clutch to keep th revs up and be aware that the intake at the back on the offside is the one that matters and that's why with the eprevailing wind in that 1/4 it stalls when windy.
