T25 Front shocks & bushes

Post by little.legs »

:D Hiya,
I am looking at replacing my front dampers very soon. Having checked the haynes I see that they should have a damping ring on top of the shock absorber. I cannot find one of these anywhere & the sachs/boge dampers from jk dont include em. Anyone know where you can get them.

Also will I need to replace the rubber spring with protective tube thats shown in the haynes as sitting over the spindle of the shock absorber inside the main coil spring. Hope that makes sense.

Unfortunately cost is an issue at the moment.
Cheers
Jamie

damping ring on top of shock is on your vehicle already just reuse the ones you have, the top damping ring and washer will probably be fine to reuse if a little deformed and hard and the washer a bit rusty. Only available from vw but not big money of you want to get new or find the rubber has split when you take them off. Most important is the plastic cap that goes over the top nut, if this is missing then undoing the nut will be a bit of a b due to corrossion. Use mole grips to hold top of strut while losening the nut.

Don't use the GSF Cofap ones .... I know they're cheap but they're rubbish.

:D Cheers for that guys
No intention of using cofap - heard they're crap. Was looking at the boge/sachs heavy duty ones on jk until i can afford some really nice ones. Best get hold of vw for some damping rings & washers then.
