I have a 87 syncro 2.1dj. with an old lpg conversion.
I had to change the left hand head because a valve seat had dropped badly and was backfiring.
Have made some long journeys since and it works but with some problems that were not there before.
It is very difercult to start when engine is hot. The starter turns engine over with no sign of it firing until eventually with accelator fully down it will eventually fire.
It idles at about 1200 rpm and wanders about a bit befor droppin to 850 after a while. when driving the revs are slow to drop off when lift off accelator.
The temperature gauge barely moves and will only just be above white secton after hours of driving. The radiator fan will kick in and pipes seem hot enough to burn. (tried a new thermostat and it made no difference) before head change needle would sit just below led no matter what air temperature was.
The air heater only produces luke warm air eeven after hours of driving.
I preloaded valves as per a wipi artitcle to 1.5 turns.
Any advice gratefully recieved.

Re: Head change and some problems since
sounds like at least one of the problems is down to a airlock, with reference the heater......

Re: Head change and some problems since
did you make sure the heater was on "hot" when you bled it?
sometimes people forget to switch it to "cold" before draining the sytem, and the air locks in the heater......

Dunno if it was fully cold when i bled it. I remember turning heater to hot when i bled it and have tried bleeding it a couple more times since but not got anymore air out.
