do what i'm just about to do, fit a length of tube over one side that drops into place and holds it when the door is fully up. its what most on here do. my struts have just started sagging after only a year so i'm not buying any more.

yeah, Matt designed that idea back in 2002
22mm pipe, cut to the length of the thinner bit of the gasram when fully extended, slides over the mainbody of the ram when closed.

Germans have been doing this for years. Replacement struts aren't that expensive though.

That's a great idea and never seen it done before. Do you think you could do the same with pop top struts to? :)

errr...only if you can get your pop top struts off easily, support the roof while you slide the pipe on, then refit!!

Otherwise, can't see why not......but hen I'm a girly, and my pop top roof struts (viking) has locking bars on them anyway!

you may find it is only one strut that is broken and the other one cannot hold the heavy boot.

If you can find the right diameter plastic pipe you can slit it and spering it on. You can also use a bit of channel which can be hung on a bit of string so you don;t loose it.
