I've seen the metallic green one of TV fame knocking around in bristol and presumed that there's a connection with BBC West (but didn't know it had been 80-90'd!!)
Now rusting away even quicker by the seaside ;-)

I think I might know the van you mean Patrick. Is it LHD with the front number plate on LHS just below the windscreen? If it's that one it used to be owned by Tom Cowley (diamondhell), and was sold a couple of years ago to a (slightly hippyish) woman that I met in the Bristolian Cafe. She didn't want to to buy my van which was parked outside the cafe with a For Sale sticker in the window (despite "wow, it must be fate, I've been looking for a van") as it was too low, so I put her on to Tom.

She was going to use it to go to Festivals, but I'm not sure it'd get quite the off roading experience that Tom gave it (eg:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ON7FlImvmM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Aye, thats the one and Tom has confirmed it. I'll stop stalking it now!

Jon, and anyone else in or near Bristol - an open invite to meet up and do some green laning in the local area. Not quite sure when as I'm awfully busy at the mo, but I do have a few byways already travelled done Mendips way. Prepare for a few paint scratches!

cheers
Patrick.

Thanks for the invite Patrick. I'm still quite liking my shiny paintwork at the moment though so would want to find the slightly less enclosed lanes. The first one I ever did nr Hicks Gate was an instant paintscraper (and they just get tighter as the summer goes by...)

I'd be up for some more paint friendly fun.....that or I'll have to get a catering size box of cling film and strategically wrap the van (like I've seen some Landy owners do).

There must be something round these parts we can find....

Yep, there are some wide byways I've found which are paint friendly. They're further apart than the paint unfriendly ones, so there's more road driving between them. I'm gradually exploring them with my landy90 owning chum.

I'm mega busy with house refurb at the mo, so my first available date is Sat 13th June and after that not until Sun 23rd Aug! I've put these dates in my diary.

What is the best way to share routes we've found? Public or private? I've been collecting annotated jpegs from OS GetAMap.

If there is enough interest in this shall we start a new thread?

cheers
Patrick.

Could start a new thread or get email addresses and move over to an email list of interested parties; I think four vans is ideal or we may have to split into groups ?

Im clear on June at the moment but will be away in August.
