Which ingition leads? 1984 1.9DG water cooled petrol

Post by sezicoolcat »

Hi,

Mark is going to take a looksey (as he likes to say) at me van over the weekend as its a non-starter right now.
Emma suggested a good idea to order in the ignition service parts.

GSF lists these leads for my year van:

92604D IGNITION LEAD SET T25 1.9 / 2.1 >7/84 (Non-Pin Type)
92621D IGNITION LEAD SET T25 1.9 / 2.1 Water Cooled 7/84 > 11/90
92621E IGNITION LEAD SET T25 1.9/2.1 PIN TYPE 83>

Just rang GSF. I've got to know whether pin'd or non-pin'd type.

Just popped off a couple of leads.

The socket end is hollow - with a tiny bit of wire acting as clasp to grip what its connecting to.

Would you say mine are of pin'd or non-pin'd type?

Thanks all - might get the van running soon :rofl :rofl

if it hasnt had a new coil, it will be NON pin type.
take the king lead out of the dissy cap, and if there is a pin sticking up in the centre of the hole in the top of the dissy its pin type, if its just a hole its NON pin type.

pre 85 van should be non pin, after 85 should be pin type.

Thanks for that Steve :ok - there appears to be a pin in the dissy cap king socket.

only use beru or bosch ignition leads imho, the cheaper ones are prone to being unbalenced, the genuine ones last years and years

GSF site doesn't suggest the brand, so I'm going for the 26 quid ones compared to the 14 quid ones.

I think we can get club discount with GSF too - I'llask them when I call... 8)

Wise move imho. They've always been Beru leads whenever I've got them from gsf for our dg engine.

Well, shall have to wait and see what turns up really...

I rang GSF, asked for:

92621D IGNITION LEAD SET T25 1.9 / 2.1 Water Cooled 7/84 > 11/90 £26.40

Got told I actually need this part number (according the reg number I gave them):

92621C IGNITION LEAD SET PO 1.05 / 1.3 91>94 £25.50

They confirmed they have my vehicle listed as a 1984 Caravelle 78PS 1.9DG water cooled petrol...

Apparently the online part numbers can be wrong... I wouldn't know - so went with their suggestion - trusted them to supply me with the correct thing...

Mark might have fun fitting them if they're wrong :rofl

Just rang GSF back again - code suffic C is correct for the T25. Phew - they were right then!
Goes to show - don't trust their website 100% - I guess though, club members would always call to order (to get the 10% discount)

you need to check your coil then, as your van wouldnt be pinned leads according to age, only if its had a new coil,
it makes no odds to anything else, only the king lead, if you are having a new dissy cap and leads they will all be the same, but your coil may not match...... if the coil is pinned, get the pinned leads and dissy cap.......
