FITTING A WATER-BOXER?
just trying to get together a list of average times people/workshops take to remove and refit a 1.9 water-boxer engine including bleeding and road testing? no speed/world record attempts, just honest,no corner cutting/bodge it in and go job times.cheers mcgill

Re: FITTING A WATER-BOXER?
10 hours as nothing is ever straight forward, especially with a WBX, their rusty exhausts, their nasty cooling system and everything just snapping off as they tend to do with WBX's.
I really wish you could stick to a book time but with them things it's really not possible.
Plus you have the added polarva of checking/setting the crank end float (that no one seems to be capable of doing) and adjusting it.
I really wish engines would come Pre-set with a flywheel.
Then, you have the timing to set up, the cooling system to bleed up and then the mixture to set to make sure it's all running tickety boo.

Re: FITTING A WATER-BOXER?
hi is this removing a dead complete engine and refitting a 2nd hand complete engine of the same type/year ect?
if it is where all the parts are already on the engine and its a real 'just get it done job ' with no oile change ect then it can be done in about 3 hours if all goes well.
but like above, if its remove the old one and fit a replacement recon short motor then 10 hrs plus ,depending on how well the job goes and easier if you have bought a new exhaust ,cooling components ,clutch ect
