I have done a simalar thing, i think it is the cold yes, and maybe applying coats too quick one after the other? I went to bed that night thinking id had a good bit of vanying around, woke up the next morning to see it flakey cracked and s.h.1.t, im gonna save all my work for easter, then hope for slightly milder weather and get to it!
I have had the same problem and have put it down to the paint being too thick, it's very tempting when using a roller to go over the area again if it's pachy but don't. Also I've found it reacts badly to the horrible halfords cellulose paint and have had to remove it with lots of thinners before applying upol primer
Did you put the primer down on bare metal or another paint?
Sometimes you can get reactions between two different paint types, this reaction usually occurs on the edges of the painted area.
One of the worst culprits is the Acrylic paints that are often found in touch-up aerosols.
