how heavy??

is a 1.6td with crate round it do you think????

i am thinking bout 70kg is that bout right cheers

I'd have thought a good bit more than that... its iron and steel.... a wbx weighs enough........and its alloy and steel....

i know but i can lift it through the engine lid so thought it couldnt be that heavy??

At least 100Kg with a proper wooden crate as the crate would weigh 20-30KG on its own, have you got any bathroom scales you could try to rest it on to get an idea of weight?

bare wbx is 75kg - I have weighed one and lifted one about 6 " but I am a wimp I know.

Take a length of strong timber like a scaffold plank, mark it off in ten equal divisions and place your suitably protected bathroom scales under one end and a brick under the other. Place the engine on the marks in succession starting at the brick. Stop when you feel you may endanger the scales. At that point a simple calculation will give the actual weight of the engine. ie half your engine weight will be shown at mark number five or say at number three 3/10 of your engine weight will be shown.

that is probably the coolest most long winded way of weighing something but i did it and it weighs a total of 73 kg's dry!!!

in the end though a heavy duty carpet tared then lifted the lump onto them( the engine not the wife)
