Glow Plug Light
The glow plug light on my van is staying on longer than it used to and comes on even when starting from hot, checked voltage at glow plugs, no problems there and the plugs are new. What is the most likely culprit, the relay or temp sender

Re: Glow Plug Light
Did the glow plug light come on when hot before ???? Plus how often do you use the van as it is a cold spell?

Re: Glow Plug Light
I would look at the relay then, but first put multimeter on glow plugs and see if there on with light or go off and light still on? The new glow plugs might have upset the relay if its oldish, on my 1.9 derv caddy van the glow plug light comes on when hot but for a second or two ?

Re: Glow Plug Light
It'll be a loose/bad wire to the coolent temp sensor, the sensor itself, or the relay. I'd emagine its fully heating all the time even when it doesn't need to? If it doesn't get a temp reading it defults to max preheat.
Changing the heaterplugs won't have affected it. The plugs run on a bit after the LED goes out anyway so thats not a fault if you find it does it (LED tells you its not ready to start, not glow plug operation!).
