Replacing/cutting ignition/door key

Post by campervankatie »

I seem to have lost my spare set of van keys. Can I simply take my key and get another one cut or do I need to go to a VW dealer?
Thanks Katie

Go to a local keycutter if you have a copy (unworn one helps). Thats actully what my local VW dealer told me to do after I picked up some proper logo'd keyblanks from them! I think they can order you cut keys if you know the key number though (which should work the locks better than a copy of a worn key).

Yes thats what I did. I got a spare in the house (for the burglars getaway  ) and another on the wife's keyring.
