Campsites in CORNWALL

Post by Blue Meanies »

Hi,
Looking for recommendations for campsites in Cornwall.

Ideal would be on the coast with swimming pool.

Any suggestions?

Maybe a bit backwards way of working, but I DON'T RECOMMEND Denis Cove at Padstow !!
Doubletrees at St Blazey Gate is good, no pool and a bit of a walk to the beach down a long hill (but great pub with food and garden at the bottom!!) and close to Eden Project, ideal for the gigs
What a long strange trip it's been

not everyoes cup of tea, but have stayed at the haven site at perrenporth for the last few years. You can get it quite cheap esp outside of school holidays. eg a week for £80 ish. It has pool and entertaiment etc etc. Its a big site so you don't have to use facilties if you don't want to. you can walk along cliifs into perranporth and there are also regular busses that come onto site going allover cornwall if you don't want todrive anywhere. site is called perransands.

Camping at Beacon Cottage Farm near St. Agnes on the north coast rocks. Take your chocks as it aint flat, but get a pitch with a view and its fantastic. Well kept, friendly site, camping in small fields so feels intimate. Excellent walking on the rugged north coast and some splendid massive beaches nearby.

We always stay at Tristram in Polzeath. No pool but a 1 min walk to the sea!

Gets busy in the summer, but they have another site up the road as well.

A site with a good pool (flumes etc all indoor and heated) is Hendra just outside Newquay.

Watergate Bay Holiday park, outside pool, just 5 mins walk to beach which almost disappers at high tide, home to Extreme Academy.

Ayr in St Ives is great (best shower block you will find at a campsite) but no pool, but sports and lesiure centre walking distance.

To be honest though, when I'm down there I normally only go in the sea, if you haven't wetsuits then there are loads of hire places at the beaches.

Henry's Campsite, near the lizard.
Haven't been yet, but we're planning a trip at easter as it has been very highly recommended. No pool but the sea is literally right by the site. Has been described as the most idyllic site ever by various friends.

I've been to Henry's twice and it really is excellent. But it ain't by the sea! You can see the sea from it, but you can't get to it from the campsite. You can walk to one through the village though, just don't expect to hop out of your tent on the site and step straight into the sea. Still a brilliant site, check it out on Google Earth or Mulitmap for the location.
