Quick One.. Changing Clutch.. remove driveshafts or not

Post by mrhutch »

now then all

Just about to change my clutch, when moving gearbox out of way, to get to clutch, do I have to remove both driveshafts or with the nose of the gearbox undone is enough access available?

it can be done, ive seen it done, but im not sure it saves anytime, and it deffo isnt as easy as undoing the drifshafts and havng room to work...... but then some drop the engine to do it, and that seems very much the hardest way, unless there are other reasons to drop the engine.......

if find the longer you spend of prep, the shorter and easier the job goes, cutting corners tends to take longer in the long run, imo

cheers steve, I do agree with you. Never had the driveshafts off this van so I'll check the conditions of the bolts and clean the heads up.

I always drop the box.
Leaving the shafts on just smacks of doing Ford Escort clutches, and I hate them.
Plus when it's out you can check the spigot bearing properly, and if it does need attention you can get to it.
I hate working around stuff.
Just aseems a bit gash to me.
