dash lights and fan switch

Post by Jon Bisson GSY »

Hi,
Couple of questions. Do the two little dash bulbs come out of their black plastic covers? I have removed them from the top of the dash cluster, but the local motor factor didn't think they come out of the little plastic bits.
I also need a new fan switch, any recommendations on a place to get one?
Thanks,
Jon

Jon, the dash bulbs come with the base (the black bit) and can be had from your local VW dealer or Dr Baxter @ Brick-yard.....

Rad fan switches can be had from any good parts supplier , and even JK....

You can replace the bulb capsule within the plastic bit useing a 286 bulb, they are shown on ETKA as seperate parts, but they seem like they are ment to be one assembaly in practice as you have to snap the soldered wires to do it - I wouldn't bother doing another for the sake of a quid put it that way.

Useless fact of the day (night): you can use the same bulb assembily in the headlamp switch which, when combined with the rocker off a mk2 polo/scirocco, gives you an iluminated light switch! Wire it to the X circuit so you can see it in the dark, just like the other VW models of the era!
