Fuel pump

Post by Jon Bisson GSY »

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has discovered a really quiet fuel pump. I have fully isolated it on the end of 3 inch rubber mounts and wrapped it in 4inch of foam, but even as quiet as it is now, it would be nice to get rid of the noise. I don't have any vibration noise, its just the noise the pump makes.
Is there a manufacturer of especially quiet performance pumps?
Thanks,
Jon

I use the rjes fuel pump it's not too bad! Then again i have a loud stereo and once the engine starts spinning up, what a great noise that makes.

I had one of those brand new blue ones from RJES. Removed it and stuck a second hand Bosch one on. Quiet as a mouse and it isnt even rubber mouted. :D So, I have a one day old RJES blue fuel pump costing sixty quid for sale. For £45.
They are a good pump and work well but the genuine Bosch pump is twice the price.

Thanks,
I have the blue RJES one, and so far the Bosch seems to be the best option that has been suggested by those in the know. I will be saving up my pennies!

thanks,
I have found some bosch ones on e-bay for under £100

I will save up some beans and get one next month.
Apart from the noisy fuel pump the van is so much fun. Hardest part is keeping the foot off the go pedal all the time, she just sounds so good, scares the boy racers!

finally got under to sort this. Richard RJES sent me another one of his blue pumps and I fitted in 3inch of foam wrapped in a rubber bladder I made for it. Its tucks in nice and tight between the frame rail and coolant lines. The foam stops it moving sideways and a stainless plate bolted to the chassis rail holds it up and protects it from any bashing from below. The noise is gone, a very low hum remains, just like an early golf. The first blue one must have been shagged. Thanks to Rich for the new one, stoked I didn't end up buying another.
