Finally got a Syncro.

Post by sonic23 »

Just picked it up today..
Conked out after 4 miles.....scratched my head for a good hour whilst waiting for the AA, then noticed the extra switch on the dash....Aha, so you've got a toggle switch to control LPG.......PRIZE MUPPET!!!!!

Luckily the AA hadn't got there.....

Anyway it's a 86 RHD 2.1 twin diff lock GL Caravelle with LPG. Fairly straight though the seams need a little work. Had a recon gearbox and front diff in 2001. Engine a bit rough - but did 60 miles today in the heat with no problems. LPG tanks need removed - and a new one put inside as they seriously compromise offroad potential.

Needless to say I was smiling all the way home.

Well done Richard, together with Bob and Sam's (veeery interesting) efforts in Wales I can see some competition for the most novel syncro camera mount coming up...

Hope it proves to be a good'un... good idea to get a tank fitted safely inside as a starter.

Good on ya Rich. Gonna have to roll up those sleeves and get your hands dirty by the looks of things.

Nice project - look forward to helping spec it out!

Andrew
You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape; If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
