Go to halfords and buy a device that clips on to the battery behind the passenger seat and has a fag lighter on the other end.

I wired mine into a thickish power lead in the dash and have a length of string securing it so as to take the load before the lead does in case of accidental tugging. I daresay you can get panel mountable jobs somewhere.

Even cheaper on tesco direct

I have the same problem in my van, the heating isn't working at the moment so want a 12v socket in the cab to get a little heater up in there!! Can you litrally chop the end off it and wire it into the dash somewhere?

On my 02 reg. Rover 45 the cigar lighter does not power and support accessories. It's in the handbook. Halfords said they had never heard of that on a vehicle before. No wonder they went bust Jeremy Clarkson was right. Presumably they thought Rover drivers weren't up to modern electronics and still smoked cigars..( I'm 68 and a half) My only criticism of Sat Navs is that they will try and put you onto a motorway even if it means driving another 5 miles instedd of taking a half mile shortcut. But they are only an aid!!! not a substitute for a map. Besided I am falling in love with my girl with the voice. She's company on a long drive and I can whinge about other drivers to her. Sad I know.

Be carefull buying these multi banks, Alot of them only run a total of about 4 amps and the plug will melt(ive got a collection)Tescos do a good one for 10 quid that locks into the plug socket and gives battery condition. Your better off wiring any inverter direct to the battery.
Im over the hill but not down the hill yet!
