There is a company selling a replacement tap for the washbasin (its only 240 volt) but will provide instant hotwater without a tank. Anyone know if they are selling them in this country?.

No, cus with no amps, rubbing sticks, or primus stove there is no heat. :mrgreen:

Sorry, no idea where to find one like you want. Maybe contact them in Australia and see if they have a UK distributor or would sell direct to you from Australia??? Less the £100 plus posting. :wink:

LOL. Had bought one of those Coleman/Oster water things. Meant for camping or washing the dog. Gave it away when I moved here. Found it didnt regulate water temp all to well. Can you find the gas cartridges in the UK??

OK....since I had practically every one of these devices, I will comment:

1) This is the shower head that plugs into a mains and promises hot water: http://tinyurl.com/cyd28w" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Usually found in America. The one I bought doesn't work. Requires a lot of amps and is 110v. Because of it's amp requirement, you cannot add an extension lead. It will not work if you do. So the water needs to be near the mains plug.

2) Coleman/Oster hot shower: http://tinyurl.com/cdf2z8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Once again, an American-sourced item. Works off little disposable LPG gas canisters. It comes with a rechargable power supply that charges it. It uses the propane to warm the water. Sometimes the water comes out either too hot & too cold. Plugs into either a garden hose or a expandable water jug. Otherwise it works good, but it is a bit dear. Fluid flow is meager.

3) Zodi hot water single tank: http://tinyurl.com/b4ccgd" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
GoWesty-US sourced. I haven't bought this. They make another model that fits under two burners. The great thing about this is that you can place it above your existing hobs and not have to carry the actual 'burners'. The flow is reported to be good.

Hopefully that answers your question.

Why not just fit a 12volt teal sink from tranist or similar into it?

I saw a great page detailing what one chap did for hot water. He basically got an insulated tank and stuck a coil of copper pipe inside which was connected to the water cooling system of the car. He had a thermostat which would isolate the tank from the car water cooling system when the water in the tank was at temperature. He said the water was very hot for hours and kept hot over night so he could have a warm wash in the morning. Can't find the link anymore sorry.
Cheers
Rob.
