tyres for 17 inch rims

Hi guys

thinking of trating myself to a nice set of 17 for my Aircooled t25 after xmas and was just after some information about tyres

I know that the tyres need to have the correct load rating but i don't know what sort of size tyres I should be looking for to keep the gearing the same

what size should I be looking to get?
