Done a little bit of painting in the past mainly touch up gun bits and bobs. Got meself a gravity fed hvlp gun but was having problems getting a rough (sandy) finish. I tried reducing the pressure at the comp and increasing paint flow but it didn't get much better. A friend of a friend who is a painter said it was too hot for him to paint on monday ( the day I was)
and it was flipping hot here any suggestions?
Oh and I was using cellulose

Yup, I found the same thing a couple of weeks ago when it was hot
The only thing that seemed to help was being brave and using quite a high pressure and once the paint's properly flowing (takes a few moments, so spray your neighbours fence for a bit) not stopping until you're done.
Dont know whether thats the professional technique but it seemed to work!
It could well be drying before it even hits the surface. You could try more thinners or some kind of retarder but yeah I wouldn't paint in this heat. I'm prepping my caravelle at the moment and I can't bear more than ten minutes sanding:)

Oh yeah - a bit more thinner helped too.
But seeing as its going to get very moist and damp in the near future (like, later this evening) I'd give it a miss and admit its too hot!
Hey thats alright mush. I'm hoping to post pictures on here in a month of my attempts with combicolor enamel and a roller. I'll try to do a good photo shoot and show how its done. Hey I just heard thunder - getting closer too. Anyone getting rain??

I had the same probs just trying to flat down filler. I swear if i'd put an egg on it, it'd have cooked in no time. Just been out there flatting in the pouring rain - how glorious to be soaked right through! Nice and damp here in Cov anyway
the paint is drying too quick, at least you wont get sags or runs, just flat it out with 1500, then use g3, then t cut, then polish, you will get a decent finnish. do loads of coats.
Ta guys thought so should have put it off or gone into the garage....not as much room as the lawn though!!! Perhaps it will be a little cooler tomorrow or I will continue in the garage. Gun seems ok though one of Clarkes from Machine Mart well makes a difference from the realllly chaep guns, mind you v cheap compared to proff guns anyway back to hopefully Italia beating the Germans maybe D
